Sequoyah School
Kilter developed a dynamic new voice and visual identity for Sequoyah School’s fundraising and admissions materials.


Since its founding in 1958, Sequoyah School has offered a progressive education emphasizing experiential learning, civic engagement, and social and environmental justice. Central to that vision is a commitment to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive educational environment.
To deliver on that promise through initiatives like their Indexed Tuition program, Sequoyah relies on generous financial support from their community. While giving covers 20% of the school's budget, Sequoyah has sometimes struggled to communicate how critical that support was—and how it directly enabled the distinctive features families valued most.



Sequoyah tasked Kilter with developing a comprehensive new brand voice for their fundraising efforts that could be leveraged for other communication needs going forward.

Since our initial audience was current Sequoyah families, we knew the campaign needed to authentically capture the school's distinctive experience. We aligned on collage as the perfect visual metaphor—representing both the hands-on nature of a Sequoyah education and the way the school brings together diverse experiences, backgrounds, and disciplines to create something greater than the sum of its parts. The result: a warm, grounded visual language that captured Sequoyah’s devotion to learning from and engaging with the world.
We paired this with messaging that was both aspirational and direct. Headlines like “Invest in Equity” and “Maximize Your Return on Principles” positioned giving as an investment that would pay dividends, making clear connections between financial support and the school’s mission.
We brought these elements together in a compelling microsite for current families that made the case for support in clear, practical terms. Based on the enthusiastic reception of our initial work from the Sequoyah community the school asked us to next adapt the new brand for an external admission audience. Working closely with Sequoyah’s admissions team, we developed a nimble digital strategy—utilizing targeted ads, emails, and advertorial content—to drive attendance at admissions open houses. The campaign delivered, generating increases in both inquiries and tour attendance.
